Fidelity National Fires Worker Allegedly Responsible for Data Breach

Electronic payment processor Fidelity National Information Services Inc. [ticker: FIS] fired an employee who allegedly stole, then sold to marketers, bank and credit card data from as many as 2.3 million customers.The employee, whom Fidelity National declined to name, worked in the company’s Certegy Check Services Inc. unit.Customers’ names, addresses, phone numbers, birthdates, and bank account and credit card information were among the data stolen. As yet, there has been no evidence of fraud, Fidelity National said.
