Ohio Residents See Drop in Insurance Rates from New Teen Driving Law
Determining who teens drive with and when is the basis behind a new Ohio law that is saving insurance customers money. According to www.chillicothegazette.com, the new law "bars drivers under the age of 17 from carrying more than one non-relative as a passenger. It also blocks drivers under 17 from driving from midnight to 6 a.m., and 17-year-old drivers can't be on the road between 1 and 5 a.m. Exceptions can be made if the teen is driving to and
from work, and the hours or number of passengers don't matter if a parent or guardian is in the car."
This is good news not just for Ohio insurance customers but insurance customers of the 23 other states who also have a similar law. If you have a teenage driver, check with your insurance company to see if your state has a similar law. If it does, then make sure your insurance company is giving you a discount because of the law. If they don't, shop around. And, don't forget to ask your insurance agent about other discounts you may qualify for.
