How long does a speeding ticket stay on your record in Indiana?
According to the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) points associated with a traffic offense, such as speeding, may be disregarded after 2 years but the violations remain on the record since IN state continues to track your violations.
Most carriers only review the previousР’В 3Р’В or 5 year period.
If in Indiana they find you have committed repeat traffic offenses over a 10 year period, IN will classify you as a habitual traffic violator.
The Habitual Traffic Violator law for repeat offenders provides for license suspensions of 5 years, 10 years, or life.
It appears that while points for traffic violations will only remain active on your motor vehicle record (MVR) for 2 years, that traffic offenses and serious vehicular offenses, such as a DUI, continually remain on your record.
